Exploring themes of human rights, individual courage, and the search for peace, the gallery will feature exhibitions, public programs and educational tours. The changing art on the walls will serve as aplatform for reflection and conversation, and the entire space is dedicated to the power of art: as a tool for remembering and as a channel for speaking truth, building understanding, and telling stories that
need to be told.
Commemorating both unfathomable loss and the indomitable will to survive, The Frisch Family Holocaust Memorial Gallery is the first space of its kind between Atlanta and Miami. The memorial contains a two-panel granite installation designed by Holocaust survivor Morris Bendit to remember those Jews who perished. This etched Mural depicts a map and other information about the human and geographic scope of the genocide.
The second phase of the memorial will provide an opportunity for local community members to honor the memories of loved ones lost in the Holocaust, and the gallery provides a spaced dedicated to learning the lessons of history.
On behalf of the entire community, we thank the Frisch Family for their generosity in making this memorial gallery a reality for the people of Northeast Florida.
